PLAYGROUND DETROIT Drops First NFT Collection by Artist Gerald Collins on Rarible
PLAYGROUND DETROIT is proud to announce the release of our first NFT series, “Everywhere and Nowhere” by Gerald Collins, available on Rarible. As the art industry evolves further into the digital space, we are excited to join the NFT marketplace and expand our platform to present innovative artists working in digital and new media artwork.
“Everywhere and Nowhere” is a collection of digital pieces by Gerald Collins that focus on the study of perception, time, space, form, and the effects of natural phenomena on the human experience. Each piece is constructed utilizing a void seemingly cast in a black abyss, creating the feeling of existing nowhere. The void is filled with visuals of different water patterns from various bodies of water around the globe at different times of day, thus promoting the feeling of being everywhere.
Color changing light outlines the void to challenge the perception of what colors the human eye actually perceives within the void; a result only possible due to the fusion of natural light from the sun illuminating the various bodies of water at different times in the day.
Ultimately, these pieces speak to our experiences as humans and how a slight adjustment of time, form, space, and light can affect our perceptions and enhance our experiences of the world around us.
The NFT features musician Kareem Ali on sound in collaboration with Collins.
Each NFT purchase (EDITION OF 5) will include a correlating print edition on plexiglass with a hand-signed certificate of authenticity by the artist. The limited edition “Everywhere and Nowhere” prints are available corresponding with each NFT video at the total cost of 1 ETH.
