Inspired by family dinners in immigrant homes, "Setting of the Altar" depicts a family all working together in procession to set the dinner table. The recipes and ingredients they carry act as offerings to a culture and place that is far. In gathering around the dinner table, they offer a moment of presence, they pay reverence to their culture and each other.
