The 2013 North American International Anti-Auto Show opens with a Creative Black Tie Preview GALA on January 18 from 6PM-9PM at The Contemporary Arts Institute of Detroit [CAID] which runs concurrent with the Black Tie Charity Preview of the Auto Show at Detroit’s COBO Arena. The NY Times has even peeked an interest, writing an article on the show which has been getting some mixed attention;

After the last anti-auto art exhibition in 2001, interest waned as board members bristled at the idea of appearing opposed to Detroit car companies, but mass transit and biking have become popular topics in the motor city.

It’s appropriate for this city and the time during the show to raise alternatives to automobiles,” Mr. Timlin said. “Why not treat our stuff that is about nonmotorized vehicles with as much glamor and excitement as the auto show and to give people an opportunity to dress up and be creative?” -NYTIMES, Anti-Auto Show Focusing on Alternative Transportation

The show is curated by our friends at Spread Art.
