CreativeMornings/Detroit Presents Laura Khalil on Courage

CreativeMornings/Detroit Presents Laura Khalil on Courage

This month, we join the global CreativeMornings community in a conversation about COURAGE a theme chosen by our friends at CreativeMornings/Oakland chapter, and illustrated by Annie Wong. On March 16th 8:30am at PLAYGROUND DETROIT and CreativeMornings/Detroit will gather to talk with Laura Khalil about “Courage.” Space is limited, breakfast and coffee will be served.

Theme 64: Courage– When researching or writing about courage, other traits fall into the mix: risk, vulnerability, curiosity, empathy, and action.

It seems, then, that courage has nothing to do with your title or level of expertise. It’s not for the few or the gifted. It’s an act of humanity, of choosing to take an action that is risky because it demands vulnerability and curiosity.

Courage has no specific form and knows no bounds. From starting a side project to the act of listening when you would rather interject, every day we are wrapped in opportunities to exercise courage.

We need your courage. It’s going to be risky and will require vulnerability. A posture of empathy and curiosity will empower you. And above all, you must take action.

Laura Khalil is a professional storyteller and advisor on marketing strategy to global technology brands such as GE, Intel and Twitter. She has delighted audiences at The Moth, Risk!, Detroit Stories and more. We look forward to having her with us!

ABOUT CreativeMornings/: In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.

Today, attendees gather in cities around the world to enjoy fresh coffee, friendly people, and an international array of breakfast foods. Volunteer hosts and their team members organize local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded individuals. The growing archive of past breakfast talks is humbling. From design legends to hometown heroes, speakers are selected by each chapter based on a global theme.

CreativeMornings remains free thanks to the support of local partners, generous venues, and longterm global partners. Everyone is welcome. Everyone is creative. Just register beforehand to reserve your spot. And if you need a little help convincing your boss to let you attend, we’ve got you covered. Remember to set your alarm, and we’ll see you in the morning!

Manifesto

Everyone is creative.

A creative life requires bravery and action, honesty and hard work. We are here to support you, celebrate with you, and encourage you to make the things you love.

We believe in the power of community. We believe in giving a damn. We believe in face-to-face connections, in learning from others, in hugs and high-fives.

We bring together people who are driven by passion and purpose, confident that they will inspire one another, and inspire change in neighborhoods and cities around the world.

Everyone is welcome.

See you on March 16th!
