Détroit Is The New Black Announces #BLM Art Installation

Détroit Is The New Black has teamed up with We Are Culture Creators for a very special day party to create an interactive art installation and provide lunch for protesters and folks that are seeking community on Saturday, June 6th, from 12-4PM. (Featured image credit, Xavier Cuevas).

After the downtown Detroit-based retail store found itself at odds with landlord, Bedrock, over boarding up the location to ensure that no damage would occur due to the protests, We Are Culture Creators stepped up to arrive the next day and complete the work needed to be done, along with the City of Detroit that provided the wood to be used.

Let me tell you about the biggest wall I painted I never had to touch…. I was contacted by @puremichigan to do a Michigan inspired mural to produce in Chicago… Instantly I thought I was painting this huge wall by hand!!! However instead of spray painting the wall I digitally designed it. A team in Chicago actually painted it, I had to go see if this was real. I drove to Chicago and it was amazing to see my art I never painted, I felt like Andy Warhol (he had understudies produce work sometimes). I remember finishing my sketch on Ludington Beach on my trip to Idlewild. Looking at a lighthouse, driving by trees, listening to house music sipping on Michigan made beer, feeling the energy of my Homestate. Michigan this mural is for you (swipe left)

A year ago today I realeased this EP called “Lellow”. This project still important to me from top to bottom. I wrote these songs with the intention to make myself and others experience joy. i couldn’t have done this without the support of my creative ass friends and my loved ones. I want to give a big thank you to everyone who streamed this and went so hard for me when it dropped. It’s been such a great year.
