Passalacqua just released their new music video, “Dead Fish Eyes” with Doc Waffles, directed by Josef Petrous. Mister and Blaksmith- the hip-hop duo behind Passalacqua- is all about:
Mergence – in the tradition of Mos Def and Talib Kweli (Black Star)’s masterful balancing of respective rap signatures, Detroit-based MC’s Mister and Blaksmith have symbiotically stitched together an EP of keen, canny rhymes that vary in shades, inflected their own personal influences…”
Hip-hop duo Passalacqua sure has been blowing up in recent months. The group’s latest albumZebehazy Summer has garnered praise from sources as high-and-mighty as NME, much of it for the wordplay and remarkable flow of Passalacqua masterminds Blaksmith and Mister (in addition to the masterful production of Erno the Inferno). Despite their nimble turns of phrase, the duo’s lyrics are often quiet character studies matching their mellow old-school sound. The pair also take a “go with the flow” approach onstage, and seeing them do this stuff on the fly is sometimes even more impressive.”
Our friends at Single Barrel Detroit just recently shot this video for the song, “Sunset City,” with them for their new series, LINER NOTES, where they go behind the scenes to tell the inspiration for artist’s songs. Single Barrel Detroit has a great Vimeo page in addition to their website- check it out.
We will let you guys know when these guys are in Brooklyn!
