SUPPORT SAVE YOURSELF! MUSICAL BY KRESGE FELLOW BRITNEY STONEY
Save Yourself! is an original musical written by Detroit artist and Kresge fellow Britney Stoney. After its well-received and highly-acclaimed debut as part of ArtXDetroit 2015, and commissioned performance at Grand Circus Park, Stoney is ready to bring the performance to an even larger audience. In order to match the funds from her recent Knights Arts Challenge, she has launched a crowd-funding campaign to bring this unique and dynamic musical to Detroit in 2018.
Featuring a multitude of dynamic artists and youth within the city, Save Yourself! looks into one creative person’s journey to discover the “Self.” By a modern combination of both audio and visuals, the audience explores the perspective of an emerging artist. The performance and message is relatable to both young, and old, as it delves into life lessons that reach beyond art- touching on the experience shared by all human beings.
On December 21st from 8-12pm Save Yourself! is hosting a super-special and intimate fundraiser concert at Boro located at 1440 Gratiot Avenue. In addition to a live performance from Britney Stoney, the evening will also feature an incredible line-up of special guests Bevlove, WilliamjFE (flutist) Omar Aragones (singer/songwriter of ONE FREQ) and Ahya (harpist). As a creative performance, Save Yourself! seeks to expose and educate the community on the creative process and the perspective of an emerging artist, empower and connect with a new wider audience, and create more opportunities for Detroit’s talented artists.
