Season Fair returns at the Shepherd from September 11–13, 2026, for its second edition, bringing together eleven exhibitors from Detroit, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Washington, D.C., and Aalborg, Denmark.
The fair's 2026 edition introduces Form, a new section dedicated to sculpture and object-based practices, expanding Season’s curatorial scope.
Detroit has long produced influential artists, galleries, and cultural institutions, yet opportunities for sustained exchange with collectors and exhibitors beyond the city have remained limited. Season was created to help fill that gap: offering a focused, highly curated environment where regional, national, and international voices meet in direct and sustained exchange.
Across painting, sculpture, textiles, and installation, the artists participating in Season ask a common question:
How do we build meaningful lives amid change?
Their works explore migration and intimacy, craft traditions and domestic life, aspiration and belonging — transforming everyday materials and personal histories into new forms of connection, and offering a portrait of contemporary life that is at once deeply personal and broadly shared.
Casting the Net is fine artist and metalsmith, Zahra Almajidi’s debut solo exhibition that flows between the spaces of constructed memory and contradictory materiality. On view during Detroit Month of Design 2026, her artistic practice exists between fine art and design.
Employing analog and digital fabrication methods, her design objects, jewelry, and digital prints envision a future that asks: How does one build upon the craft and design traditions of their ancestors to forge a connection to their displaced culture?
