AMERICAN HIPSTER PRESENTS: DETROIT [FIVE-PART WEBISODE SERIES]

AMERICAN HIPSTER PRESENTS: DETROIT [FIVE-PART WEBISODE SERIES]

American Hipster Presents is a YouTube series dedicated to the wonderful world of  hipsters. Webisodes are brought to you with the help of digital creative studio, Seedwell and host, Paavo Steinkamp [also part of the production team, $kin&Bones] AHP is going to ten cities across America profiling trendsetters. Each city visited and profiled gets five episodes which each profile music, art, food, fashion, and nightlife.

The current stop on the nation-wide tour is Detroit. Steinkamp features Northend Studios, a non-profit artist studio space along with artist Katie Craig interviewing her about the giant wall mural Illuminated,  that she and others completed over the course of two years. [Also pointing out the recent re-location and almost loss of the mural]. He eats a raw, vegan dinner prepared by local small company Chartreuse, which does monthly pop-up dinners in historic and unique spaces downtown.  He jams out with the Detroit Marching Band– a rowdy, but extremely positive bunch of young musicians that bring joy and music to unexpected patrons in public spaces- parks, local bars, and parties. The most recent episode profiles fashion designer, Emily Thornhill of Homeslice Clothing, an eco-friendly line based in the city.

Next week’s final episode featuring Detroit will be on the monthly dance party, Haute to Death, brought to you by DJ duo/couple Ash Nowak and Jon Dones. Tune in on Monday, October 15th for the new episode!
