Call for Artists: PLAYGROUND DETROIT Announces 20/20 Emerging Artists Fellowship
The 20/20 Emerging Artists Fellowship from PLAYGROUND DETROIT will provide financial support and professional mentorship for artists to develop their individual practices, to identify, elevate and promote Detroit-based artistic excellence. The Call for Artists 2020 Fellowship Application opens for submissions on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
20 Emerging Detroit artists each receive $2,000 Fellowship Award from PLAYGROUND DETROIT along with professional development services to support them at a critical point in their career from 2020-2021.
Artists will receive $2000 stipend, gain industry experience, skills, knowledge and mentorship, present a new body of excellent, compelling artwork and participate in community programming. Accepting proposal submissions by Visual Artists for the following categories: gallery exhibition, off-site exhibition, performance installation, or site-specific installation.
There will be a Public Information session on Tuesday February 18, 2020, 6-8pm and the deadline for the Fellowship Application submissions closes Wednesday March 9 2020, 11:59pm EST. Throughout 2020, ten Emerging Detroit artists will each receive $2,000 Fellowship Award.
20/20 Emerging Artist Awards recognize artists who are early in their careers with ambitious goals and who demonstrate artistic potential through creative risk-taking along with a clear vision of what they seek to produce and present.
Artists will be chosen based their artistic excellence and dedication through an open call process and selected by a small professional arts jury. The goal of the fellowship is to identify, celebrate and elevate emerging Detroit artistic excellence by providing much needed resources.
Deadline to submit your application is Monday March 9 2020, 11:59pm EST.

To apply you must:
-Be 21 years or older- and a current legal resident of Macomb, Oakland, or Wayne county, and must have resided in Macomb, Oakland or Wayne county for at least one year prior to the application deadline (March 9, 2020), and remain a resident throughout the fellowship period.
-Provide a brief description of concept for one solo exhibition, preferably supported by applicable images through our online submission form.
-Provide an artist statement, biography, CV and website and/or links to social media, and include images of previous work. -Please include year created, medium, title, and price in the captions.
Who may not apply?:
-Students working toward any undergraduate degree at the time of application, or individuals planning to begin a bachelors degree-granting program during the fellowship year (2020 – 2021)
-Artists that do not reside and/or work in Detroit, Michigan.
