DETROIT BUILT POP UP FEATURES OVER 25 DETROIT MAKERS AT THE MICHELE VARIAN STORE IN NYC
In an effort to further promote the amazing talents that are helping to revitalize Detroit, “Detroit Built,” is a pop up shop in a shop, downstairs at Michele Varian in SoHo, NYC that will feature product designed and manufactured in Detroit happening over four weeks in the fall. PLAYGROUND DETROIT is proud to be involved to help organize the first Detroit Built pop up along with fellow Detroiters- store owner Michele Varian and Sarah Lapinski of Motor City Sewing & Wound Menswear.
Detroit, renowned for its manufacturing history, is reigniting its proud heritage in the nimble hands of many committed Detroiters. Detroit Built is proud to be showcasing the continuing resourcefulness and engineering intelligence and talent of Detroit in the premier shopping district of Manhattan’s SoHo. From laser cut sunglasses, classic timepieces, solid wood furniture and bespoke denim to delicate metal smithing, limited edition records, fine art prints- Detroit Built provides!
Michele Varian believes in trying to create sustainable manufacturing resources for the design community as a means to support future innovation. We are showing the world a selection of quality goods being built in Detroit proving it to be, once again, a place where great things are made. Varian’s store will be announcing a schedule of events and forums surrounding the topic of production in the USA.
