DONATE NOW: PONYRIDE NEEDS FUNDS TO COMPLETE RESTORATIONS FOR NEW BUSINESSES

Ponyride is in their final days of their crowdfunding campaign to reach their  $30,000 goal by this Friday and they need your help. Located in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood, Ponyride has businesses and organizations waiting to move into their shared office space. Money raised from the crowdfunding campaign will be used to finish the renovations at Ponyride.  Specifically, these funds will go directly to build-out: office furniture, conference rooms, lighting, new windows, internet network and an audio visual system.

Two years ago, PLAYGROUND DETROIT explored Ponyride with its creator, Phil Cooley, when remnants of what once was an old office building still floated around the 30,000 sq. ft space- old filing cabinets, forgotten documents, and a late 70’s-early 80’s office vibe. A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure to again tour the building with Phil as the tour guide. This time around, their progress was inspiring. The entire building has since been transformed into a microcosm of buzzing energy, community, with a whole lot of entrepreneurship. Currently the 25 businesses share the building seamlessly in a maze of different floors, rooms, and community spaces, which for the most part have been accomplished through volunteer nights-of course under Phil’s guidance and his carpentry work. Please help us support Ponyride with any additional funds to allow them to invite even more blossoming small businesses that are leading the revival of the city.

Ponyride was formed in 2011 and has become a place where small businesses and organizations are able to collaborate together and develop a network that drives social change and the local economy. It is inspiring to watch Detroiters take matters into their own hands by strengthening communities, bringing in new jobs and creating beautiful products. We currently house 25 businesses, who account for approximately Detroit 75 jobs. I ask your help in continuing to grow this neighborhood economic hub and support local small businesses.” – Phil Cooley

You can donate to Ponyride through the crowdfunding campaign here.  Your contribution will have a tangible impact at Ponyride and directly help the small businesses who work there.
