GO BROOKLYN ART WEEKEND ENCOURAGES PUBLIC STUDIO VISITS & CURATION

If you’re in Brooklyn this weekend, should should, “GO See Art!” GO Brooklyn Art is asking Brooklyn-based artists to open their studios to the community on September 8–9, 2012, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Community members registered as voters will visit studios and nominate artists for inclusion in a group exhibition to open at the Brooklyn Museum on Target First Saturday, December 1, 2012.

During the open studio weekend, voters will visit artists’ studios and check in using text messaging, the GO mobile app, or the GO mobile website by entering a unique number identifying each studio. After voters have checked in to at least five studios, they will be eligible to nominate three artists from their visits for inclusion in an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.

Register online to visit artist studios. Voter registration opens on July 17, and runs through the GO open studio weekend, September 8–9, 2012, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. During the open studio weekend, you’ll visit studios and check in using text messaging, the GO mobile app, or the GO mobile website by entering a unique number identifying each studio. If you don’t have a phone, you can write this number down and enter it later on the website. After you’ve checked in to at least five studios, you’ll be eligible to nominate three artists from your visits for inclusion in an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.

The ten artists with the most voter nominations will receive visits from Brooklyn Museum curators to select work for the exhibition, opening on Target First Saturday on December 1, 2012.

The ten artists with the most nominations will receive studio visits from Brooklyn Museum curators. Two or more nominated artists will be chosen by the curators to have their work displayed as part of a Brooklyn Museum group exhibition opening at Target First Saturday on December 1, 2012.
