Since May of 2017, Hotboxed has been presenting shows and parties “where you will sweat and dance your mind away.” Thee focus is on the music and the experience that it can enable, so it is no surprise that their next show boasts an impressive lineup at Tangent Gallery, one of Detroit’s most steadfast musical spaces. Hailing all the way from the UK, DJ Boring will headline the evening for his debut appearance in Detroit bringing his unique version of dance-oriented house to eager fans and new audiences alike.
“This show was a work in progress for a little over eight months,” notes Mehul Tolia, founder of Hotboxed. “We’re always getting requests to bring acts to Detroit and after many conversations and ideas thrown around, I knew this was the show worth bringing to Detroit and giving people a unique opportunity to check out a really awesome artist.”
The supporting acts are equally solid. KE THU will debut their brand-new live set at their first official show, following the release of their promising visual introduction that premiered just over a week ago.
PRGRM, a group that has been around for a minute in the Detroit electronic music scene, will bring a set that promises to appeal to listeners both new and old, much like the headliner.
Last but not least, Jorissen‘s name is hard to miss in the city, having appeared on a dizzying array of lineups spanning the breadth of Detroit’s club offerings, and his established presence rounds out a full night of good music that is almost too good for a Thursday night.
“I’m excited for tonight, to say the least. We have some amazing people involved. Jonah Baseball who has been curating visuals using old school VHS recorders with old TV sets, to local lighting engineer, Patrick Ethen who has offered a piece of his work to illuminates the dance floor,” Tolia divulges.
He continues, “Jorissen is one of my favorite local DJs right now, he literally has songs from another dimension because I can’t ever find out where he gets his music from. PRGRM has been a staple for all Hotboxed events and has helped curate the vision from the beginning, as well as being growing artists in the scene. KE THU has been brought to my attention as of recently and I’m especially excited to have these guys on board since they will be performing their first-ever live set tonight.”
