Levon Kafafian Trunk Show on Sunday December 20th at Farmer Street Pop Up
Join weaver and visual artist Levon Kafafian at 1435 Farmer Street for an in-store trunk show of gorgeous handwoven scarfs, wraps and textiles. Levon Kafafian creates tactile and sensory works on the threshold of transition, applying the process of weaving beyond thread into visual, performative and social practice.
Kafafian practices in the Detroit community through the use of textile craft, ancestral lifeways and magical experience. Kafafian is co-creative director of Fringe Society, an artist collective that creates hybrid, experimental works toward a more just and equitable future. In 2020 their work moves further into critical and speculative discourse on queering ancestral practices. Kafafian holds a BFA in Crafts: Fibers from the College for Creative Studies and a BA in Anthropology from Wayne State University.
*Store capacity is limited to 4 guests at a time during the trunk show. Masks must be worn at all times and please follow social distancing guidelines.*
