Flint Eastwood’s Small Victories release is, anything but a ‘small victory’- this EP and the accompanying visual performance including two new music videos- is a major win for a very personal album from brother-sister duo, front woman, writer, singer Jax Anderson & producer and writer, Seth Anderson.
Earlier this month their debut single, “Find What You’re Looking For” music video premiered on CMJ.com just before their performance during CMJ Week at The Delancey. The first single also features collaborations with Valley Hush’s Alex Kaye on guitar and Detroit singer-songwriter RV Mendoza. Consequence of Sound has exclusive streaming until the full release on Friday October 9th. The album was recorded and orchestrated with ASSEMBLE SOUND, where the official EP listening party was held to an intimate audience.
Jax Anderson took the stage with Garret Koehler for an honest conversation that guided the listening party about the process of making the album. “While Small Victories is a project that emerges from four years of behind-the-scenes songwriting with her brother Seth Anderson, for Flint Eastwood’s Jax Anderson the album’s character and content really came into being over the last year and a half as she coped with the loss of her mother, who was her biggest fan and inspiration.” Jax explains to ASSEMBLE SOUND:
‘Small Victories comes from the idea that doing anything creative in life takes a lot of persistence, struggle, and hustle. It’s easy to expect that the spoils will come easily and be immediately fruitful. But if you focus on the little things, the “small victories”, you realize that it’s those things that are the most rewarding. That’s what keeps me going.’
The music video for the first track, “Find What You’re Looking For” was directed, filmed and edited by Shane Patrick Ford. With Art Direction and Costume Designs by Kristin Adamczyk. The creative team explained the years of history that the Director and Anderson had between them, enabling them to build an emotionally-charged narrative, even incorporating some original footage of her from her childhood.
