What can your average, fun-loving New Yorker do to help Detroit? What if it involved dancing and door prizes? What if it was an excuse to have some fun on an otherwise boring after-work Monday evening? Our friends are throwing the Motor City Dance Party fundraiser at Cameo Gallery in Williamsburg on Monday Dec. 9th at 7 p.m.

We all know Detroit has faced tough times. But Detroit’s creative scene is bursting with vibrancy. Two Detroit-based nonprofits, COMPÁS and The Carr Center, are channeling this creative energy, giving kids music and dance lessons, as well as fun, creative spaces to hang out and explore.
With your help, they can bring even more music to Motown – and all you need to do is stop by and shake what your momma gave you.
PLAYGROUND DETROIT has asked Brooklyn-based Detroit artist, Ian Swanson to donate one of his pieces for the silent auction. Sneak peek below! You can bid on this and other awesome items while supporting a great cause!
Amazing DJ lineup:
DJ ECLIPSE
DJ Ayres
Chances with Wolves
Cousin Cole
Petey Cologne
James Mulry
Or have a beer. (Happy hour prices for the first hour!)
Or bid on one of our fab auction items, including a signed copy of Just Kids, by former Detroit resident and musical icon Patti Smith, artwork from Detroit artists, or a weekend trip to Detroit.
Can’t make it but still want to support Detroit?
Just by showing up, you’re in the running for raffle items like a free trip to the top of the Empire State Building.
Seriously, it’s the best thing coming your way that Monday!
