PLAYGROUND DETROIT LAUNCHES DETROIT RIDE SHARE GROUP ON FACEBOOK

PLAYGROUND DETROIT has launched a new Facebook group for ride shares between New York City and Detroit.  Group membership is by invite or by request for friendly commuters who travel regularly between both cities. Members can post from either city and either offer rides or request rides. PD Executive Director, Paulina Petkoski explains the idea behind the open-forum group concept;

I was thrilled to catch a ride recently to Detroit with some people I know from NYC [with both native Detroiters and non-Detroiters] and we were joking that there should be some kind of ride-share program for people traveling by car…So I thought why not do that? It really was beneficial for everyone; the driver scored extra gas money and the trip for me was much cheaper than airfare.”

With more and more Detroiters and New Yorkers with growing businesses, like Detroit-based brand, Shinola who opened their second storefront in TriBeca last month and We Came In Peace, an event design consulting firm with clients in both cities, we can expect the group to continue to grow into an exciting community!
