PREMIERE: KE THU DROPS NEW VISUAL FOR SINGLE “WIND DRIPS”
If you hadn’t already heard, ke thu’s entrance into the Detroit electronic music scene has been marked by a refined sense of patience and timing. Their first release came in the form of visuals for the track “Looks Everywhere,” which brought a simple, sharp creative direction into alignment with sounds that carefully rise and fall within themselves. This release built proper anticipation for their well-attended live premiere at Tangent Gallery in support of DJ Boring, and since then the duo has been creating and plotting the next iteration of public display.
After debuting a more causal, ambient version of their live techno mastery at Mindfield’s “What You See Is All There Is” event last night, today they’ve released a new video for “Wind Drips,” a track that reaffirms what we loved about “Looks Everywhere” while at the same time hinting at the promising potential of what might be to come.
Much like their last video, with “Wind Drips” ke thu opts for a visual accompaniment that subtly hints at their creative process without revealing too much. Resisting the popular urge to shock and awe, instead the video engages the viewer through natural and effortless shots of live performance. Like an elusive moment of serenity on the dance floor, one can fix their sight on the performers in front of them, or just as easily close their eyes and drift into the sounds, providing two different yet equally justified ways of experiencing the music.
As the momentum around this group continues to build, they will once again hit the stage tomorrow night at Northern Lights Lounge for an event hosted by Transit Station. Catch them for a late night boost from 12-1am, and look out for more coming soon.
