What records did you score today? Today is international Record Store Day! According to Wikipedia, “Record Store Day is an internationally celebrated day observed the third Saturday of April each year. Its purpose, as conceived by independent record store employee Chris Brown, is to celebrate the art of music. The day brings together fans, artists, and the over 700 independently owned record stores in the United States, along with hundreds of independent record stores across the world.”  This is the 5th annual RSD and there were more than 400 record releases today to support the annual holiday.

The Detroit record collecting community is huge- local record shops in addition to thrifting in Salvation Army and Value World proves bountiful for great vintage thanks to Detroits long-standing affair with music sensations. A lot of Detroit DJs and artists keep it old school and spin a lot of vinyl over the increasingly popular choice of iPad and digi-turn tables.

UHF Records is setting up a pop-up shop at the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. show featuring Phantasmagoria at the Majestic theatre tonight. The boys spent some of the afternoon at the store location in Royal Oak, MI. UHF Records is a local record store opened up by Lost & Found Vintage store owner, Tommy Dorr.
