ROCK SHOWCASE FT SHADY GROVES PERFORMING NEW DEBUT ALBUM BITZER, WITH KELLY JEAN & THE CALDWELL BAND, FLOWERS BLOOM AND MICHAEL RAULT

Marble Bar will be taken over by rock stars on Thursday July 14th. Shady Groves, whose new album, Bitzer was recently released along touring Toronto-based artist Michael Rault, and Detroit rockers, Kelly Jean and the Caldwell Band and Flowers Bloom will coalesce for a feel-good, summertime evening. A collection of reminiscent and soulful sounds will fill the bar along Holden Street as guitar riffs and crooners serenade the Southwest side city. If you’re familiar with the bands on the bill, you already know that this show will literally feel good. The talented musicians will span psychedelic, funk, soul, and rock genres for the perfect bouquet of summer sounds.

Michigan based collective Shady Groves is brimming with talent and versatility. Their lofty, drifting sound sends listeners to tranquil mindset as their ambient, indie, folk style meets somewhere in the middle with pop and rock genres. A group of multi-instrumentalists and songwriters, Shady Groves uses their individual talents to inject variety into their collective songs, and their cohesion as a group is seamless even with so many cooks in the kitchen.

Coming together in 2015, Shady Groves has more recently released their 12 track album Bitzer which has been well received for its outstanding lyrics and musicianship. The album features eye-catching and textured visuals from Connor Irwin who has done all of the artwork for the group. Shady Groves’ music sounds like the lovechild of chill wave and psychedelic rock and is perfect for just kind of getting lost in the music and lyrics. Their next show is on August 12th with Wasabi Dream,  The Cordial Sins (Columbus, OH) and Remnose at PJ’s Lager House.

In May they released their debut album, Bitzer that features a wide range of styles of music from different songwriters in the band. What started as three-member singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist collective project from Adam Fitzgerald, Jeff Yateman and Dylan Caron, has since evolved into a five-piece band after bassist and saxophonist Jamie Dulin joined, along with Colton Caron to play synth, keys and piano. Before assembling under Shady Groves, they all had played in other bands from across the Metro Detroit area, including The Kodaks, Animate Daze, Moon Lake and Ojala.

ALSO PERFORMING THURSDAY AT MARBLE BAR

Kelly Jean and the Caldwell Band //- This Detroit based 5 piece is self-described as, “a little bit witchy and a little bit rock and roll.” The band features a strong starlet up front who commands attention with her powerful and emotive vocals. The band follows suit with dynamic guitar, bass and drums reiterating Kelly and resulting in an engaged and moving live performance. Kelly Jean and the Caldwell Band has rocked crowds in Detroit for years and Marble Bar’s turnout will be no exception.

Flowers Bloom // A “Psych country fuzz garage” band, Flowers Bloom brings a throwback sound to a contemporary audience. This funky psychedelic assembly invokes ideations of peace, counterculture, and surrealism as they take listeners on a musical DeLorean back to the late 60’s. Keeping busy with hella performances this spring and summer, Flowers Bloom has built a familiar name in the local rock scene. Detroit is obviously no stranger to rock music, and welcomes the flower power to Marble Bar.

Michael Rault // Michael Rault and friends are visiting the D from the vast country across the river. The Toronto based musician, producer and arranger brings a unique blend of genres to his live performance touching base with the psychedelic rock, pop, and R&B stylings. Signed to Burger Records in 2014, his recent output has gained the attention of Spin, Stereogum, and NME. You can also find Michael’s music on Spotify, Iheartradio and you guessed it… Marble Bar! Michael and his band are sure to get your body moving for this performance, so if you haven’t seen him before this will be the perfect summer treat.

Marble Bar’s Thursday lineup is the perfect evening summer soundtrack to enjoy amazing atmosphere with friends, all with an outdoor lounge to enjoy the heat.
