SOLID DUDES KITCHEN SHOWS YOU THE LAST WORD AND A LOT MORE
Be still, hungry hearts! SOLID DUDES KITCHEN will fill your soul with good food and laughter all in the same bite: this cooking show is not for your average Martha Stewart fan. Birthed in 2007 by local Detroit bassist Derek Swanson, who at time was playing with the local Michigan band Heads Will Roll, along with drummer, Dave Graw Solid Dudes Kitchen has acquired quite a following. With clear conversational chemistry, the duo started a collaboration for a short cooking mini-series filmed out of Derek’s Ferndale apartment.
The series was originally structured as a 22-minute segment, but soon they realized their humor and tips were best served in elaborate bursts of 5-7 minute educational hilarity. Neither gentlemen have an official culinary background-watch here to see them delicately address the issue- but with over 38,000 Youtube views and hundreds of dedicated fans, this duo’s internet credibility isn’t lacking. Each episode they serve up an interesting recipe for dishes like pot brownies, macaroni and cheese. and regional favorite venison pasties; it’s obvious a few episodes in that these ‘dudes’ are just as concerned with making laughs as well. In an interview with Derek he describes their food as, “a reason to congregate,” but regarding their mini-episodes, says:
[The show is]…more of a vehicle for us to hang out and talk.” -VIA Metro Media
In the beginning of 2012 the ‘Dudes’ premiered their second season DVD with an exclusive viewing party with a packed house at the historic Belle Isle Casino.
