SUMMER SCHOOL IS IN: ALBUM RELEASE FROM PROGRESS REPORT

SUMMER SCHOOL IS IN: ALBUM RELEASE FROM PROGRESS REPORT

Class is in session and you don”t have to miss a beach day to attend lessons. Progress Report (D. Allie of United States of Mind & Eddie Logix of Midcoast Most) have broken out more tricks than you’ll ever learn from a textbook with their remix album, Summer School, released today digitally.

For their latest project, the duo- who have worked under the alias Progress Report for the past five years, chose to include a plethora of fellow USM & MCM members. These  friends as featured vocalists and producers included Dial81– who created the album artwork as well.  All of the contributing artists are (or were) formerly rooted in Detroit, but all of the albums sound is actually noticeably diverse, smoothly arranged for your listening pleasure. The album influences include old school hip-hop, funk, ambient down-tempos, and even a little glitchy dub in the intro,  Homeroom, remixed by Mork Choklad. It’s an accidental homage to Detroits three most influential musical contributions– Motown, hip-hop, and electronic; boasting a reminder to the audience of the citys past musical accomplishments, creating a well-balanced showcase of how Detroits rich music history has moulded its current pool of musicians.

The album release party is this Friday July 13th- which will be packed with performances. If you are in the Detroit area be sure not to miss it i!
