AlStock is coming to Detroit. New location, new freaks.
PLAYGROUND DETROIT debuts the WORLD EXCLUSIVE release of ‘Hundred Seventy Seven Freaks,’ the short film featuring the Prince of Darkness himself, from the masterminds of Detroit-based production company, The Right Brothers.
Alstock Festival happens on July 25th for its third year in a row. In 2012, the ‘Prince of Darkness’ aka Al Casinelli started planning his own epic birthday party and wanted to do something different; Detroit hip-hop duo Passalacqua headlined the bill that year, and the rest is Detroit history. After the first year, Brent Blaksmith came up with the idea of doing another collectively-organized festival after its initial success. Up until this year, AlStock has always been at Al’s house in Redford, but has continued to be an issue with local police authority. The new Corktown location, The Duck Pen, [Detroit musican, Clyde Moop‘s residence] this year will guarantee even more good times and an improved city festival experience for all freaks.
Doc Waffles, The ‘King’ of #CoOwnaz officially blessed Casinelli with ‘Prince of Darkness’ title, the characteristics of the title were always present. #CoOwnaz is hashtag that links things of common interest or topic together. It is also used to describe a collective of like-minded individuals who support each other. While he may be the Prince of Darkness, he is also known as the master of stage lighting in Detroit. Casinelli does lighting for pretty much anyone and everyone who is a talented local Detroit artist in the music scene, -including Eddie Logix, James Linck, Tunde Olaniran, Valley Hush, Britney Stoney, Bev Love… to name a few- but everyone he works with he says, “is lucky enough to call a friend.”
