WATCH NOW: JAMAICAN QUEENS DEBUTS MUSIC VIDEO, CAN’T SAY NO TO ANNIE
SPIN Magazine debuts the new music video, “Can’t Say No to Annie,” from Detroit darlings, Jamaican Queens.
Detroit pop usurpers Jamaican Queens are very much on their own trip. Openly influenced by the southern production prowess of Three Six Mafia and Gucci Mane and evidently inspired by David Bowie and Islands alike, main man Ryan Spencer combines bent beatwork with at-home intimacy and psychedelic pop. The group rounded out by Adam Pressley and Ryan Clancy quietly released their self-described trap-pop LP Wormfood back in March, and at last they’ve got a fitting video for the beautifully strange “Cant’ Say No to Annie.” The song runs the gamut of Jamaican Queens’ smile-twisted style, while the Katie Barkel-directed clip follows the misadventures of a young woman as she interacts with a cast of trailer-park types. Oh, and one dude makes bacon blinds for his window after chugging a bottle of cough syrup. Get into it above.”
