WHAT’S YOUR WIFI? GROUP ART SHOW CURATED BY DIGITAL ARTIST MOLLY SODA

NEW HIVE (DOT COM) PRESENTS “WHAT’S YOUR WIFI,” Curated by Molly Soda

Molly Soda is an internationally-known digital media artist, who moved to Detroit in 2013 from Brooklyn and also happened to be named one of the “Most Important Artists of 2013” by Complex Magazine. The majority of her work is created on NewHive.com, which is co-curating the group show at the Detroit-based Northend Studios opening on Thursday, January 15th, 2014, 7pm.

She recently told the Detroit News, that she  “became obsessed with Detroit mostly because of the way I can be an artist here,” says Soda. “It’s more affordable and less overwhelming and the people I met here in my first two weeks were so welcoming and willing to help me on my projects and show me around.”

Most of her work is a combination of videos, still images, gifts, layered on top of each other. Molly says of her chosen digital medium,

I like how accessible it is, and I like that it’s a little low brow in a way, because everyone has access to the toots that I have access to.”

Don’t miss the opening of the show that she has curated of other local and international digital artists, which will also feature local DJ sets from musicians like Ice Cold Chrissy and Ryan Spencer of Jamaican Queens.
